Honestly the only proper gig I went to this summer was Iron Maiden. I have gone to places where they've PLAYED music like out of speakers but honestly its not the same.

It's not the same. Even when you have live music, once it goes through a speaker system it sounds more like recorded music. But a few events around here have people playing or singing without the electronics. It makes an event sound so much more alive to me.

America, central Illinois -- look for the Great Lakes and I'm somewhat south of the one that points down.

There's a town about an hour from us and after their evening farmer's market the town orchestra plays at the courthouse. We got to go a couple times this summer and it was lovely.

Last holiday season, the holiday market in our town had a group of carolers from a local church. There was also a live band playing through a sound system -- which is one example of the dramatic difference in sound. It was only when I saw the band on stage that I realized it wasn't canned music. But the carolers were enchanting. There was also a carriage ride with a very happy horse who evidently loved his job. :D
